Enrolling into any of the jobs in the US army requires some level of special skills to be successful while also depending on the applicant’s strengths. While the applicant’s score in the Armed Force Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test determines the roles they would be offered, they are allowed to choose from the list of jobs available during the US army recruiting exercise. In a nutshell, the applicants who score high get the juiciest jobs in the US army.

Recognizing how much you are expected to contribute, the entry-level salary for all soldiers differ and based on the soldier’s job role. However, every soldier is entitled to bonuses such as housing, food allowance, health insurance, etc. aside from the basic salary.

Here are some of the highest paying jobs in the US army and the basic requirement to land them.

Satellite Communication Systems Operator-Maintainer

When it comes to the highest paying army jobs, satellite communication systems operator-maintainers could be considered alongside other army jobs with similar entry level pay. Operator-maintainer here ensures that the various communication lines in the US army are always effective. Part of their job description also includes maintenance of the entire army’s multichannel satellite communications. The entry-level salary bonus for the role is $40,000.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the requirement for this role.

Cryptologic Linguist

This role is seen as one of the highly rated jobs in the US army. Cryptologic linguists are responsible for identifying foreign communications with the aid of signal equipment. The job is recognized as one of the most crucial parts of the US army jobs because the Nation’s defense depends on the information coming from foreign languages. Cryptologic Linguists earn as much as the previous job on this list for a start; $40,000.

The requirements for this role include the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test, and the Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB). On the job training for a Cryptologic analyst is between 10 weeks for Basic combat training and about 52 weeks for Advanced Individual training.

Microwave Systems Operator-Maintainer

The Microwave systems maintainers have the responsibility of installing all microwave communications systems, operate and maintain them. It’s one of the few jobs in the US army that you can earn an enlistment bonus of $24,000. Part of the job description is to work with associated antennas, multiplexing and communications security equipment.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a basic requirement for the role. The required duration for on the job Basic Combat Training is 10 weeks and the training comes with on the job instruction.

Petroleum Supply Specialist

Petroleum supply specialists are responsible for supervising and managing the shipment, storage, and reception of petroleum-based products. They also perform other related functions such as issuing and dispensing bulk fuels and water from the storage position and distributing the products to units where they are needed. The specialist also operates petroleum and water distribution system and multiproduct pipeline system.

The basic enlistment package for the petroleum supply specialists is $21,000. And the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is required for this role, with at least a score of 86 in Clerical, and 85 in Operators and Foods.

Patriot Launching Station Enhanced Operator/Maintainer (14T)

The Patriot is described as the world’s most advanced missile system which has a launching station from where it is operated and managed, called the patriot launching station. A Patriot Launching Station Enhanced Operator-Maintainer is in charge of this station.  Their function includes transportation, emplacement, and maintenance. The overall task of these operators is considered quite important and sensitive; hence, adequate attention is given during the US army recruiting exercise, just like the above-mentioned US army jobs. The enlistment bonus for the Patriot Launching Station Enhanced Operator-Maintainer is $21,000.
