A human resource reference or HR recommendation letter states the characteristics, skills, achievements, and qualities of a candidate seeking employment in an HR position.

An HR reference letter template tells an organization why the candidate is best suited for the position. The referee plays a supervisory role in issuing the employee reference letter. The referee can be any person- a former employer, co-worker, professor, or a lecturer. The important thing to see is that the person who is referring should know the professional and personal capabilities of the person they are recommending.

  • Letter Head: The address of the referee and the contact details come here along with the date of writing the letter and salutation.
  • First Paragraph: The first paragraph gives brief information about the relationship between the writer and the person they are recommending. It should also include the reason why the referee is best suited to recommend the person.
  • Letter Body: This paragraph gives in detail about the skills of the job seeker, their strengths, and weaknesses, and achievements. One can also include personal traits.  
  • Conclusion: In conclusion, the referee should state about their sincerity in recommending the candidate and should favor the job seeker with phrases like “highly recommend”.
