Sometimes, the situation continues to grow awful – when the devoted ones begin to join the bad gang to make your job more difficult. It’s usually a frustrating situation which should never be overlooked by business managers.

As a business leader, understanding why the unruly employees are difficult to manage will be very important as you work on developing skills to alleviate such menace. This is because all managers who are not ready to resolve this operation-denting condition will only succeed in providing a negative impact on the entire team performance and morale.

No clear cultural policy

Without proper grooming of the employee into the right culture to strictly present what is expected, the employee would have the potential of being overwhelmed by his or her personal attitude.

A corporate environment with no clear cultural practices will not only bring difficulties dealing with defaulters but also encourage employees to adopt any suitable behavior at work, and this sends a bad message to their general response to other corporate obligations.

No clear behavioral feedback

It is not enough to disallow sexual harassment at workplace but make comments which suggest you are likely to abuse a staff sexually. As a team leader, office obligations will only remain theoretical if your lifestyle is not exemplary. And when your employees do not receive adequate feedbacks for defaulting, there are more chances that the events would be repeated.

No penalty for defaulter or appraised

One of the management strategies vital in human resources is to appraise every staff yearly. And the appraisal information is to be used for promotions or other staff benefits. Employees who don’t see much benefits attached to obeying office rules would not be motivated. Secondly, employees who are punished for failing office standards are not likely to join the bandwagon anymore. But without penalties, they would become more difficult to manage.

Poor interest in job function or too much workload

A survey by Gallup shows that about 70% of all employees hate their jobs. This statistics may be troubling, but it’s a fact that all employees who love their jobs work hard to keeping it, those who think they are being over-utilized by a company may also prove difficult in managing. If you are a business manager experiencing some difficulties in managing some employees, you may have to review the workload they are servicing. Job stress may sometimes change employee’s behavior into being rebellious.

We have not developed a solution

Last on our list of the reason why an employee may be difficult to manage is that no strategy or solution has been developed. As mentioned earlier, all business challenges are resolvable. Those we have not worked on will keep being a challenge and a source of low productivity.
